SHILLONG, DECEMBER 17: For hundred of street children, 17 December 2013 will be a memorable day as they became part of the pre Christmas celebration organized by none other than the Meghalaya health and family welfare minister AL Hek and the Hope Media, Reach Shillong Ministry especially for them.
These nowhere children were the honoured guests and Hek along with the ministry gladly played the host to these unfortunate children belonging to the economically lower strata of the society.
It was sort of a twin celebrations- pre Christmas and birthday of the minister’s son- held at the St Jerome school on Tuesday where these underprivileged children not only got to wish the minister’s son on his birthday but also enjoyed the pre-Christmas celebration.
Hek made sure that his family members were also present during the grand party he and the Hope Media, Reach Shillong Ministry threw for the street children where they were treated with sumptuous lunch with the Christmas cake as an icing.
Speaking at the gathering, Hek extended his best wishes to the children on the occasion of Christmas and urged them to live an honest and dutiful life. He also distributed blankets to Mother Teresa Home and to St Jerome School.- By Our Reporter
