Speaking to reporters at the sideline of the meeting of the 14th Finance Commission on Tuesday, Sangma said that the security agencies need to monitor and verify such nexus as such information’s can be substantiated

Sangma said the government had inputs about such nexus in the past which gave enough reason to the state government to investigate and verify. He assured that the police is investigating the nexus from all angles.

On Monday, the MPF had submitted a memorandum to Meghalaya governor KK Pail wherein it pointed out among other things , the unholy nexus between the ruling party politicians with militants in Garo hills and accordingly demanded for a probe.

Sangma, however,  said that politicians from any political parties could be  having such nexus with militants and it needs verification before coming to conclusion as to which political party he/she belongs.

Sangma also promised that any politician found to be having such nexus will not be spared and the law will take its own course against them.

The MPF had said that there were several instances that proves the nexus between politicians belonging to the ruling coalition and Garo Hills-based militant outfit and on several occasions it has been seen that militants get prior information about raids to be carried out by police in their hideouts.– By Our Reporter
