CM holds video-conferencing with DCs

SHILLONG, MAY 8: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday held a review meeting with deputy commissioners of the 10 districts via video conferencing with the objective to improve the delivery mechanism in the state.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Conrad said that the idea of having the video conferencing is to continuously interact with the administration directly from the cabinet level and from the chief minister’s level.

“The objective is to improve delivery mechanism. We feel that the monitoring of implementation will improve if we can directly interact with them (DCs),” he said adding that a lot of issues can be resolved by using the available technology.

He said that he is trying to make it a point that at least once a month there should be video conferencing between the cabinet and the deputy commissioners along with chief secretary. Conrad informed that the deputy commissioner of South West Khasi Hills could not participate in the conference due to the model code of conduct in view of the upcoming bye election to the Ampati seat.

Asked, the chief minister said the deputy commissioners were also informed about the visit of the ministers to the respective districts which is going to start from this quarter itself to review the implementation of the various schemes and programmes of the government.

Informing that the impact of the hail storm and cyclone was reviewed, Conrad said, “We have also reviewed situation in East Garo hills also there was cyclone. We have reviewed whether beneficiaries got funds or not.”
