CM inaugurates school

SHILLONG, FEB 23: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday inaugurated the Higher Secondary School Block of Loyola Higher Secondary School, Williamnagar during his visit to East Garo Hills District.

Expressing his happiness to be in the School, the Chief Minister stated, “Pleased to inaugurate the Higher Secondary School Block of Loyola Higher Secondary School, Williamnagar, which is a premier institute which continues to be a blessing to the warm people of East Garo Hills district”.

In the programme, Tura MP, Smti Agatha Sangma inaugurated the Basketball court of the School sanctioned under the CM’s Special Development Fund (CMSDF).

The Chief Minister spoke on his concerns over the pass percentage of the Garo Hills region and stated, “This is a problem of the system as a whole and that is why, the Government stresses on the need for community action and responsibility towards the young people of our State. Let us take on this challenge and ensure we encourage our children.”

The students also displayed their talent through a play on ‘Oliver Twist, praising their talent, the Chief Minister said, “Exemplary showmanship of the students of the School through the play ‘Oliver Twist’ based on the novel of Charles Dickens. It was an entertaining close to the long day at East Garo Hills”.

Later, the Chief Minister also flagged-off the new School Bus of St. George School at Samanda. The Chief Minister said, “ This will ease the commute of students who travel from far-off villages”.  He commended the efforts of the School by saying, “The provision of the bus through the CM’s Special Development Fund (CMSDF) will supplement the School’s efforts in encouraging students to pursue their education”.
