SHILLONG, JAN 14: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Monday inaugurated a one day workshop on Enterprise Architecture for senior government officials held at Yojana Bhavan Shillong.
Organised by NIC in collaboration with the department of IT, the workshop was also attended by IT Minister Hamlet Dohling.
Addressing on the occasion, Sangma termed technology as a great enabler for the efficient and speedy delivery of services to people at the grassroots level. Technological interventions in service delivery has ushered in a lot of improvements in the implementation and monitoring of schemes in the State, it is time to upscale the use of technology to the next level, he said.
Thanking the Union Minister for IT Ravi Shankar Prasad, for awarding the pilot project on Enterprise Architecture to Meghalaya, the first in the North East and only the second in the entire country after Andhra Pradesh, The Chief Minister said that Enterprise Architecture would be able to ensure inclusive and sustainable development in the State by facilitating service delivery through a common e-platform.
‘It is important to connect all departments through the use of technology. Participation and inputs from all departments is crucial in the planning stage as this will directly have a bearing on the implementation and efficacy of the project in the long run’, the Chief Minister said.
Speaking on the occasion Hamlet Dohling, said that in a digitalised society IT forms the backbone for efficient service delivery.
Addressing the gathering D.C Misra, DDG and Head of Group, Enterprise Architecture Resource Division, NIC New Delhi said that the idea behind Enterprise Architecture is to facilitate delivery of services to the people through a single portal.
‘We as a government exist to deliver services to the people. Service delivery has been taken as a major concept and Enterprise Architecture addresses this holistically. State wide Enterprise Architecture will involve all departments and proper inputs are required from all, otherwise we will not be able to achieve our goal accurately’, he said.
‘The focus of Enterprise Architecture is to take comprehensive view of the Government processes. The idea is to simplify and automate service delivery as far as possible for easy accessibility to the common man’, he added.
Officials from other parts of the State also took part in the workshop through video conference facility.
