CM: Police must take court order into account when investigating education scam

Shillong, Nov 8: Meghalaya chief minister Mukul Sangma said that the police will have to examine the FIR lodge by the two ngos against the five ministers, Assembly speaker, deputy speaker and five legislators for manipulating and tampering of the score sheets of the government primary school teachers post appointment.

The CBI in its report submitted to the Shillong bench of Guahati high court indicted all of them in the appointment scams.

Following the CBI report that was leaked to the media,  RTI activist Angela Rangad and ngo leader Agnes Kharshiing filed an FIR against all the ministers and legislators mentioned in the report Wednesday.

Sangma told reporters that the police will have to take into account the ruling of the high court while acting on the FIR. After the government had appealed against the CBI report in the high court, the court had directed the government to constitute a High Level Scrutiny Committee (HLSC) to inquiry into the alleged manipulation and tampering by also referring to the CBI report.

Following the high court directive the state government has constituted the HLSC with EP Kharbih as its chairman to inquire into the alleged education scam.- By Our Reporter
