CM reviews road projects

SHILLONG, SEPT 14: The state government on Friday held a meeting with the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) to review the various road projects in the state.

After the meeting, chief minister Conrad K Sangma told reporters that this was the second review being held in the last six months to review the road projects including national highways in the state.

He said that the meeting also discussed the various hurdles and bottlenecks that were there from the state government and different departments including forest, revenue, PHE and others.

“So we have reviewed all that to ensure these projects are moving fast. The Centre has earnmarked almost Rs 7,000 to 8,000 crores for Meghalaya and it really depends on how fast we move and ensure that permissions are given for these road projects.” Sangma said.

“It is not important to discuss about the future right now though it is important to keep it in mind but the present situation has to be handled first well before we start talking about the future aspect and at this point it is important to involve stakeholders and really get everybody onboard,” he added.
