CM seeks report

SHILLONG, JAN 10: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has sought a complete report on the recent attacks by Bangladeshi criminals on villagers residing along the international border in West Jaintia Hills District.

“I have asked the Director General of Police (DGP) to send me a complete report on the incident,” Sangma told reporters here on Friday.

He however refused to comment any further citing that he would only take a call on this issue after getting the report.

A Border Security Force (BSF) personnel and a civilian were injured after they were attacked by a group of Bangladeshi dacoits in Dawki area on January 8.

One SBBL gun and weapons of the BSF personnel were also snatched during the incidents which took place at Amdoh village and Rongtila border outpost.

Earlier on January 4, two persons from Lamin village were also critically injured after they were attacked by Bangladeshi robbers along the Dawki-Nongtalang road.

Condemning the attacks, Cabinet minister Hamletson Dohling had also urged the chief minister to direct the BSF authorities to stop illegal entry of Bangladeshi nationals from the international border into the state.
