“CMJ filed false FIR”

SHILLONG, MAY 16: The East Khasi hill police said that the allegation by the official of the now infamous CMJ University that the institute campus was vandalized by unidentified people is false and instead revealed that the University staff staged the act of vandalism. The police are now waiting for the court order to proceed further in the case.

East Khasi hills SP M Kharkhraong told reporters on Thursday, “During the course of investigation, it has been ascertained that it was a false information and that criminal act was committed by the staffs of the CMJ university themselves for ulterior motive.”

On May 2, the University official had alleged that unknown miscreants forcefully entered and vandalized the office of the university breaking the computers which contained vital information and records of the students.

Earlier, the CMJ University deputy registrar,Dr Prem Lal who was later arrested, had filed an FIR at the Laitumkhrah police station on the alleged vandalism.

Kharkhrang said as the case proved to be false, “Hence, the case was returned in FR false .”

Kharkhrang said a written prayer was submitted by the officer in charge of Laitumkhrah police station to the court for passing an order to register a case under section 177/182 IPC as per provision of Cr.P.C U/S 155 against the staffs of the university responsible for the criminal act,”

Kharkhrang informed the section is a non-cognizable offence and the order is awaited. – By Our Reporter
