CoHSO seeks CM intervention

SHILLONG, FEB 5: The Confederation of Hynniewtrep Social Organisations (CoHSO) on Tuesday sought the intervention of the chief minister Conrad K Sangma for the implementation of the Inner Line Permit and National Register of Citizens in the state.

In a letter to Sangma, CoHSO chairman Robertjune Kharjahrin said, “CoHSO strongly demand from the government to immediately take necessary steps to implement the ILP system and NRC in the whole state for the protection and safeguard of the rights and privileges of the indigenous people.”

Kharjahrin, who also heads the Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC), informed that this was the unanimous decision of the Dorbar Bah ki Khun Hynniewtrep, a general convention held at Student’s Field, Jaiaw on January 31.

He said the Dorbar Bah which was attended by people from all walks of life including leaders of political parties, Ngos and traditional heads, had also resolved to oppose the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.
