Gadgets stolen from additional secretariat

Shillong, October 29: In what could be termed as a “gross lapses” by the additional secretariat officials responsible for looking after the security, electronic gadgets allegedly went missing from the office chamber of the Information & Public Relations parliamentary secretary Rophul S Marak located in the additional secretariat.

An FIR has been lodged with regard to the missing of computer’s Central Processing Unit (CPU), keyboard and mouse from the room of Marak- who is a legislator from Rongara Siju and has been appointed as parliamentary secretary by the Mukul Sangma led coalition government.

According to FIR, a peon of the office informed the legislator about missing of the electronic gadgets at around 12. 30 noon on Tuesday, police informed.  Thought the secretariats are under full security surveillance, the police however did not rule out involvement of outsiders.

A high police official said, “So far, we cannot ascertain if people from outside are behind the missing of the gadgets or not.”.  The police have registered a theft case based on the FIR and said they are investigating into the missing computer gadgets.

Though the stolen goods might not be costly, but the very fact that it was stolen from the additional secretariat which is the seat of power and where there are maximum security as people from outside are not allowed to enter without proper documentation raises eyebrows.- By Our Reporter

    Outsiders?? most of the govt employees do not even maintain the documents well and ACTS are missing from the LAW department….and how can OUTSIDERS have access to such things….well well the Police will always bark up the wrong tree and they cannot afford to disappoint the Politicians and the “Babus”, or they will get the boot…
