SHILLONG, FEB 19: The Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress (MPYC) protested against the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) led government by signing patriotic songs and poetry during its ongoing three day workshop held in the city. The protest was against the BJP government’s terming the people of north east India as immigrants during the recently held Delhi assembly elections.

The ongoing three day workshop on ‘State Level Leadership Development’ is being held at the Aurobindo Institute in Shillong.

The MPYC decided to hold the protest by emulating the struggles of the builders of the nation by choosing peaceful protest against issues like black money, the anti-farmer land acquisition ordinance, vandalism of churches in Delhi, the increasing frequency of attacks on people from the North East in the national capital and the communal hatred being promoted by the present regime.

The participants of the workshop, hailing from different parts of Meghalaya, are being given leadership skills training during workshop. The training includes active listening, history and ideology, roles and responsibilities, team work and management, local institutions of governance, grassroots connections, media management, Right to Information, effective speaking, and personality development.

The workshop will conclude tomorrow.- By Our Reporter
