Congress – 3 year of Modi Govt.

SHILLONG, JUNE 7: As celebration on the three years of the Modi’s government kick started in Meghalaya on Wednesday, Congress leader and cabinet minister Ronnie V Lyngdoh said the BJP led NDA government has nothing to boost about.

“What can the NDA government at the centre boost about, what are their achievements in the past three years – ‘nothing’,” Lyngdoh told reporters.

Claiming that most of the initiatives were made during the then Congress led UPA government at the centre, he alleged that the Goods and Services Tax (GST), which now everybody is hailing, could have been implemented five years ago.

“Now, the NDA government is piggy ride on this initiative of the UPA government,” he said.

He also argued that at a time when the country is witnessing growth, the Centre felt the need to bring the demonetization, which has affected the GDP growth badly.

Lyngdoh however thanked the existing of the NREGS, which has lessen the impact of demonization drive especially in rural areas as people who returned to their villages were still managing to earn their livelihood.

According to him, the NREGS, which was also initiated during the UPA regime, has been recognized as the best social programme for generating employment.

Stating that India all along have been very inclusive, the minister however said the present Centre government now attempts to polarize this on ethnic, linguistic and religious lines.

He further lambasted the Modi government for its failure over the situation in Jammu & Kashmir, which it had earlier boost to resolve. “The situation instead has become worst as now terrorists seem to increase compared during the UPA regime,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Congress leader appealed to the people of Meghalaya not to go by ‘rhetorics’ and ‘slogans’ even as he emphasized that for any state to progress, stablility is needed and this can be provided by the Congress party.
