COVID-19: 397 new cases, 1 death

SHILLONG, JAN 25: The state on Tuesday recorded one more COVID-19 related death, mounting the number of fatalities to 1,499 even as 397 persons have tested positive for the virus, taking the total active cases to 2,360.

 

Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said the deceased is from East Khasi Hills.

 

Dr War also informed of the 397new cases, 211 were detected in East Khasi Hills, 104 West Garo Hills, 20 Ri Bhoi, 14 South West Garo Hills, 11 South West Khasi Hills, 10 West Jaintia Hills, 8 North Garo Hills, 6 East Jaintia Hills, 5 Eastern West Khasi Hills, 4 South Garo Hills, 2 East Garo Hills and 2 West Khasi Hills.

 

He said that 293  persons have recovered from the viral infection of which 222 are from East Khasi Hills, 39 West Garo Hills, 6 Ri Bhoi, 5 East Jaintia Hills, 5 West Jaintia Hills, 3 South Garo Hills, 3 West Khasi Hills, 3 East Garo Hills, 2 South West Khasi Hills and 1 Eastern West Khasi Hills.

 

So far, the state has detected a total of 89,161 COVID-19 cases out of which 2,360  are active cases, 85,302 recovered and 1,499 deaths.

 

East Khasi Hills has the highest number of COVID-19 cases at 1,540 followed by West Garo Hills 390, Ri Bhoi 166, West Jaintia Hills 69, South West Garo Hills 33, East Jaintia Hills 32, Eastern West Khasi Hills 27, South West Khasi Hills 26, West Khasi Hills 25, North Garo Hills 24,  South Garo Hills 17 and East Garo Hills 11.
