CSWO urges govt to initiate talks with HNLC

Shillong, August 16: The Civil Society Women Organization (CSWO) president Agnes Kharshiing wants the State government to accept the proscribed militant outfit Hynñiewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) offer for a dialogue.

Kharshiing said, “The State Government should take the opportunity to initiate talks between the Central Government and the HNLC, when there is a chance for talks across the table with the HNLC, who have made their offer.” She felt the government should accept the offer of talk by the HNLC.

Kharshiing felt that the people would definitely not want bloodshed whereby innocent people eventually become victims.  Referring to the government indifference to the talk offer of the HNLC she said that being “conceited and having egos” would not lead to a healthy democracy.

She felt that the government must try to bring about an amicable solution for talks and peace. She said,   “Solutions should be thrashed out across the table and not through arms. – By Our Reporter
