SHILLONG, MAY 14: The A∙chik Students’ Welfare Association (ASWA) has demanded a magisterial enquiry to probe the custodial death of Topu A Marak inside Tura police station.

“We are demanding for a magisterial enquiry immediately and action if anyone is found guilty of Topu’s death,” said ASWA president Augustine R Marak in a letter to the Deputy Commissioner of West Garo hills district.

Topu A Marak of Tura Matchikolgre was found dead inside the lock up of the Tura police station on May 9, 2013. Marak was arrested by the police for allegedly being a drug addict.
