Cyclist joins AITC

SHILLONG, JUNE 7: A national athlete and a cyclist Winward Dilcheng Watre Sangma has decided to join the opposition All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) as a grassroot leader.

 

In his letter, Sangma, a resident of Pillangkata, Ri Bhoi district said, “My main aim to join AITC is to encourage and help youths with a main focus on educational problems and sports activities and in many different ways also develop young leaders by involving young, smart and dedicated members to the party and by being a great example for them, take part in youth engagement program, encourage youths to make the world a better place and bring different in the state as a whole and in this way build a strong government in the state of Meghalaya.”

 

Sangma said his educational background and professional experience will enable him to contribute a lot to the party.

 

Meanwhile, the AITC said after starting off with a landslide of allegiance from the MLAs, it is focusing on strengthening their base in the state.

 

TMC has been concentrating minutely on reaching to the grass-root level in Meghalaya by forming consequent Block Committees and Convening bodies, it said.

 

It informed that a new feather was added to this sweeping venture as the Meghalaya Pradesh Trinamool Congress constituted the District Trinamool Congress Co-ordination Committee for Ri Bhoi District.

 

As the party handle tweeted confirming the TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee’s visit to the Meghalaya on  June 16, it can be surmised that the party has bigger plans for the state as they gear up for the upcoming elections, the AITC stated.
