SHILLONG, AUG 14:The district administration of East Garo Hills has warned stern action against rumor mongers under the provisions of law following rumor with mischievous intent spreading through the social media by unknown persons.
According to statements issued here on Tuesday, the East Garo Hills District Magistrate, Saljong K Marak and the Superintendent of Police (SP), RTG Momin have warned to take stern action against the rumor mongers under the provisions of law.They informed that some people had been spreading mischievous messages in the social media saying that a group of unknown persons are roaming around and trying to kill people by decapitating thereby causing fear psychosis and panic in the minds of the general public.
In this regard, the general public has been asked to refrain from spreading such kind of messages without verifying the fact and also to report any information regarding the matter to the nearest Police Stations or the Police Out-posts.
