East Khasi hills deputy commissioner Sanjay Goyal warns gas agencies not to violate home delivery of LPG cylinder

SHILLONG, JULY 5: The East Khasi hills district administration on Saturday warned of action against gas agencies who fail to deliver gas cylinders at the door steps of consumers.

The warning follows after several complaints from consumers on the failure of the gas agencies operating in the district to comply with the recent direction of the government to implement the home delivery system.

East Khasi hills deputy commissioner Sanjya Goyal on Saturday said,“To enforce the home delivery the administration has formed teams to check such practice. Gas agencies are warned not to overcharge and ensure home delivery of cylinders without fail and exception.”.

Goyal informed the district administration has already started the home delivery system from June 1 and system of point delivery has been discontinued. He, however, said several complaints have been received by the administration regarding the non-delivery of cylinders at the door steps of the consumers.

“Instead, the gas agencies are parking their delivery trucks on the road side and forcing the consumers to collect the cylinders from the roadside leading to hardship and harassment,” Goyal said.

A checking was conducted at Laban Last Stop on Saturday, the team led by magistrate R Wahlang seized the delivery truck belonging to M/s Longkmie Gas Agency carrying 31 cylinders parked along the roadside and distributing the cylinders instead of home delivery.

Goyal further informed that it is made amply clear that the home delivery charges decided by the administration is Rs 25 per cylinder over and above the reserve sale price which is Rs 421 as of now and for home delivery the charge would be Rs 446.

“The consumers are requested to note this and not to pay any extra money for home delivery,” Goyal stated while informing that the LPG connection portability has already been launched similar to the mobile numbers portability.

According to Goyal consumers who are not happy with the services of their gas agency can shift to another gas agency of their choice without changing the connection number with a small formality with the new gas agency adding this will ensure better services– By Our Reporter .
