SP to taxis: Dont overcharge

SHILLONG, DEC 22: East Khasi hills SPM Kharkhrang has warned the tourist taxis and Sumos  not to overcharge passengers rushing to Guwahati and other places for Christmas saying this tantamount to extortion and action will be initiated against those tourist taxi drivers found to be violating the law.

Kharkhrang said that it has come to the notice of the East Khasi hills police that taking advantage of the rush of passengers who are going home from Shillong to Guwahati and other places for Christmas, tourist taxis and Sumos are overcharging passengers which tantamount to extortion.

Kharkhrang has requested passengers who are overcharged to these tourist vehicles to report to the police and action will accordingly be taken against them.- By Our Reporter
