Minister’s driver assaulted

SHILLONG, NOV 22: The driver of the Meghalaya social welfare minister Deborah Marak was badly injured after he was allegedly assaulted by a Ri Bhoi district Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Friday evening. Confirming the assault case, , Marak told this scribe over the phone from Delhi that her driver Donbok was badly assaulted by the DSP BJ Laloo at Umsning area.

Marak said, “My driver was coming back from Williamnagar to Shillong, when reaching the place he overtook the vehicle of the police official. Just because of this, the agitated police officer blocked my car and started assaulting my driver.”

The driver has admitted to the Shillong Civil Hospital. “We are filing a complaint against the erring officer,” Marak informed. – By Our Reporter
