Dy CM slams AITC over border issue

SHILLONG, SEP 21: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Wednesday said the opposition All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) wants to ensure Meghalaya and Assam will continue to maintain “status quo” on the boundary issue forever if they are elected to power.

“Let the people of the state understand one thing if they are to elect the TMC to rule the state, the TMC wanted to make sure that “status quo” (on the border issue will) remain till the end of the world,” Tynsong told reporters while reacting to the assurance made by the AITC that it will undo the Memorandum of Understanding signed with Assam to end dispute in 6 areas of difference, if it is voted to power in 2023.

He said, “Let the people ask the TMC, is this the way of your redoing things about the boundary issue of boundary? Are you trying to say you want to create confusion till the end of the world about the residents of both Meghalaya and Assam?”

“That is my question to TMC if they want to redo or revisit the MoU. I am telling you to let the people think a hundred times before they elect the so-called TMC,” Tynsong stated.
