SHILLONG, APR 9: Former Meghalaya Food and Civil Supplies Minister B.Bires. Nongsiej passed away on Tuesday at his residence in his native village at Mawkyrwat. He was 61. Nongsiej was elected three-times as member of the Meghalaya assembly. He was first elected in 1988 on Hill People’s Union ticket and in 1998 and 2003 on United Democratic Party ticket.The veteran UDP leader had also served as cabinet minister in the BB Lyngdoh, EK Mawlong and FA Khonglam ministry. The former minister will be laid to rest on Thursday at Mawkyrwat Presbyterian cemetery.- By Our Reporter
