Financial aid to stranded citizens

SHILLONG, APR 13: The Meghalaya government has decided to extend one-time financial assistance to over 3,000 students and working groups, who are stranded in the different parts of the country due to the nationwide COVID-19 lockdown.

Announcing this after a cabinet meeting held on Monday, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said, “We have approved the proposal of extending one-time financial assistance at Rs 3,000 per beneficiary.”

Tynsong however maintained that people working in state and central government offices and PSUs across the country are not eligible to avail the relief.

The deputy chief minister further appeal to all stranded citizens to stay back in their respective places till the end of this month.

Earlier, Tynsong had informed that the state government through the chief secretary is in touch with all the states where people from the state are stranded as he also assured that the government is ready to address any difficulty or hardship faced by them.
