First cabinet meets

cabinet pixSHILLONG, MAR 12: The first cabinet meeting of the MUA II coalition government headed by Mukul Sangma approved the draft of the governor’s address to be read out on the first day of the budget session schedule to be held from March 14.

The cabinet met after the swearing in ceremony of all the eleven cabinet ministers

After the meeting Chief Minister Mukul Sangma told reporters on Tuesday, “We have approved the draft Governor’s Address after thorough deliberation.”  The cabinet also approved the names of the awardees of the Meghalaya Day Award recommended by the committee headed by the chief secretary.

The U Tirot Sing Syiem Award for Arts and Culture will be conferred to Streamlet Dkhar, Pa Togan Sangma for Social Services to MEPAD secretary, Belbora Wankhar and Col (Rtd) Tauro Ignatius Donald and Kiang Nangbah Award for Sports to Garry J Lamare,

All the ministers attended the first cabinet meeting. The ministers also interacted with bureaucrats after they were sworn in by Governor RS Mooshahary.

Sangma further said that he expects more coordination and endeavour from all the ministers and departments because the mandate  Congress got from the people also brings expectation to perform.

Sangma said it is a privilege to the political leadership and the bureaucracy to rededicate themselves in fulfilling and living up to the expectations of the people. – By Evanjopline Dkhar
