Flees from Pune, stranded in Shillong, Tripura boys rescued by their King

Shillong, August 21: Stranded in Khyndailad after feeling Pune because of the threat to the north east people, fifteen workers from Tripura were at their wits end as they did not know how to travel back to their home town before the Tripura Maharaja Pradyut Bir Bikram Manikya Debbarma came to their rescue.

Between 18 to 25 years, these fifteen youths hailing from Dhalai district, Khowai, and Teliamura on the outskirts of Agartala, were working in a vehicle spare parts company Vihar India Limited in Pune for years when they were told by their boss to leave for their own safety as some Marathi newspapers had carried news saying that the people from the north east India working there had been given time till August 20 to leave Maharashtra.

According to these boys, the company’s boss assured them that they would be given back their job once the racial attack against the north eastern people stops. Due to the backlash of the communal disturbance of the Bodos and migrant Bangladeshis in Assam, the north eastern people studying and working in Pune and Southern states like Karnataka and Hyderabad have either become a target of violence or sms campaign threat.

Some of these boys were given their salary while others were not lucky enough. These fifteen Tripuri boys boarded a train in general compartment came to Guwahati and from there instead of going to Tripura came straight to Shillong thinking they would get a bus. However when they found out that there was no bus to Tripura and that the Sumo were demanding Rs. 20, 000 to make the trip, which they could not afford.

As tears nearly rolled down their cheeks and were figuring out how to reach Tripura a lady from Tripura Kalpana Devbbarma  overheard their plight and instantly got them in touch with the Tripura Maharaja, who instantly arrange for their overnight stay and also their journey back home. – By Our Reporter
