SHILLONG,JULY 23: Shillong Municipal Board chief executive officer informed that burning of garbage/waste is prohibited as per provisions of the Solid Waste (Management and Handling) Rules, 2000. He warned that anyone found burning garbage/garden waste in the open will be strictly dealt with as per provisions of the law.
The CEO also asked the public not to stack the building materials like sand, stone or bricks etc on the roadside and if such materials are found on the roadside for more than 12 hours, the SMB will cause the removal at the cost of the owners.- By Our Reporter
