GNLA attacks police

SHILLONG, OCT 8: GNLA militants attacked a police party  near Chisobibra bridge, East Garo Hills on Tuesday when it was coming to Williamnagar from Tura   at around 9.45 am.  Militant attacked two police gypsies by blasting IED but there was no casualty and damage to both the vehicles except the windshield of one of the gypsies was cracked since it was hit by a stone.

East Garo HIls SP JFK Marak  said the attack was carried in a similar fashion when militant attacked police patrol party at Negkhra few months ago. He said the IED was detonated with 12 volt battery from a distance of about 100 metre.

Police recovered 100 meters long wire and 12 volt battery from the spot. Militants also reportedly fired several rounds while escaping. Police said the area commander of GNLA Jimmy is suspected to be behind the blast.- By Our Reporter
