GSU complains of bad German made road

bad  roadSHILLONG, FEB 20: Concern over the pathetic construction of work by the German Technology Company, the Garo Students’ Union-Western Zone (South) (GSU-WZ) has demanded an inquiry into the pathetic construction work on the national highway in South Garo hills district.

GSU-WZ president Jappindro M Marak wrote a letter to the chief engineer in-charge of the national highway wherein he stated, “Inquiry should be conducted into the erratic construction work on the national highway in South Garo Hills District by the German Technology Company.”

In the complaint letter sent on Thursay, Marak alleged that the company has failed to adhere to the direction of the authority concerned while constructing the said national highway.  He said, “The national highway constructed by the company is not at all satisfactory as it has failed to adhere to the direction given by chief engineer of the national highway.”

Marak informed that the quality and condition of the construction of the road going from Golmangre Bolonggitok to Melim South West Garo hills, which was done two years ago, are pathetic and unsatisfactory.

Marak said in the letter, “In some portion of the road are narrow and some are wider, there is no equality in the size, the width and length of the road.”

Marak also brought to the notice of the chief engineer that in some places there is no retaining wall and drainage system adding in Damdiloka village the retaining wall has already collapsed but the company has failed to repair it till today.

Marak has urged the concerned authority to issue direction to the company to complete the construction work on the remaining portion of the roads and also repairs those that are damage so that the people are not inconvenienced. –By Our Reporter
