Gun culture unhealthy:BML

SHILLONG, JAN 23: United Democratic Party (UDP) working president and deputy chief minister Bindo M Lanong has lamented act of intimidation to politicians in Garo hills and said the “culture of guns” is not a good sign in electoral politics.

Lanong said ‘electoral violence’ is definitely not a healthy sign for a democracy that practises electoral politics.

Lanong, who is a veteran Meghalaya politicians, has been a six times Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) MDC and two times legislator, also predicted that the UDP will be cross one-third of the sixty seats in the Meghalaya assembly.

Confident of forming the next government, Lanong said the UDP have capable leaders like former chief minister Donkupar Roy and even himself to take on the mantle of the top job. He, however, said,” Let the UDP legislative party decide elect its leader, I will he happy with whoever it decides.”-By Our Reporter
