HC seek details on exorbitant charges by private hospitals for COVID treatment

SHILLONG, OCT 22: The Meghalaya High Court on Friday has sought details on the alleged exorbitant charges by private hospitals for treatment of COVID-19 patients.

 

During the hearing on a PIL, Amicus Curiae TT Diengdoh also invited the attention of the court to the issue concerning the charging of exorbitant charges by the private hospitals for the Covid 19 patients.

 

Issuing an order in this regard, the division bench comprises of Chief Justice Ranjit More and Justice W Diengdoh said, “He (Amicus Curiae) is requested to file affidavit bringing on record the details about the exorbitant charges by the private hospitals for the Covid 19 patients with advance copy thereof to learned AG and learned counsels for other respondents.”

 

For further hearing, the PIL is adjourned to November 22.
