HDR resigns as MDC

SHILLONG, SEPT 23:  Meghalaya district council affairs (DCA) minister HDR  Lyngdoh resigned from his post as Member of District Council (MDC) to retain his MLA seat. He is the first MDC , who is also an MLA, to resign before the bill on dual post is passed by the state assembly prohibiting from holding on to dual posts- MLA & MDC.

Lyngdoh submitted his resignation as Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) MDC to council chairperson M Nongrem on Wednesday afternoon. Nongrem said, “ He submitted his resignation at around 4.15 pm.”

There are seven MDCs in KHADC who are also MLAs.-By Our Reporter
