HSSLC: Anthony’s, Seven Set top lists

resultsSHILLONG, MAY 8: The results of the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) for the three streams – science, commerce and vocational were declared by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) today.

St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong, retained the first position in the HSSLC science examination, while Seven Set Annexe Higher Secondary School, Shillong, topped the HSSLC commerce stream.

Like last year, St Anthony’s almost swept all the first 10 positions in science stream. The school alone bagged as many as 9 positions while the 10th position went to Laban Bengalee Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Shillong.

The school (St Anthony’s) also bagged six positions – fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth – in the commerce stream. It may also be mentioned here that the school has been topping in the HSSLC examination for several years.

The second and third positions were bagged by Nongthymmai Nepali Higher Secondary School, Shillong and Laban Bengalee Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Shillong in the commerce stream.

Lawanaibok Kharpuli of St Anthony’s topped the science stream with 468 marks while Kavita Joshi of Seven Set Annexe Higher Secondary School, Shillong secured the first top 10thposition in commerce stream with 451 marks.

While Sneha Deb Roy and Bishai Deb, both of St Anthony’s secured the 2nd and 3rd positions in science stream, Purnima Paul of Nongthymmai Nepali Hr Sec School, Shillong and Rohit Das of Laban Bengalee Boys’ Hr Sec School, Shillong bagged 2nd and 3rd positions in commerce stream respectively.

Of the total 3662 students, 2811 were cleared the HSSLC science stream examination with the a total percentage of 76.76 percent.

In commerce stream, 2193 students appeared for the examination, 1576 were declared successful recording 71.87 percent.

However, the females outshined the male candidates in both the examinations.

Meanwhile, South West Garo Hills District registered the highest pass percentage in Science stream with 91.30 per cent, followed by East Khasi Hills District with 81.64 per cent, while East Garo Hills Hills District has the lowest percentage of pass with 34.29 per cent.

In the commerce stream, South West Khasi Hills District recorded the highest percentage of pass followed by East Jaintia Hills District at 83.10 percent.

However, East Khasi Hills District which has the maximum of candidates (1557) appearing for the examination, a total of 1151 were declared successful. The percentage of pass in the district stood at 73.92 per cent.

Meanwhile the vocational stream recorded a 100 pass percentage with all 7 candidates who appeared for the examination were declared successful.
