Hujon calls 12-hrs bandh

SHILLONG, OCT 26: To protest against the attack that led to the death of Vikash Nandwal, the Irene Hujon led faction of the Civil Society Women’s Organization (CSWO) has call for a 12-hour bandh of all business establishments in the state on Monday.  In a statement issued on Saturday, Hujon said, “We have decided to call for a 12-hour bandh as a mark of protest against such a dastardly act against a trader who died after miscreants set him on fire in the city.”

The bandh on all business establishments will be effective from 5 AM to 5 PM of October 28, Hujon informed. The decision came following the death of a city trader in a hospital in New Delhi at around 8 AM on Saturday. Nandwal who suffered serious burn injuries after he was set on fire by miscreants on October 9 at his shop breathed his last at around 8 am on Saturday.

Expressing her sorrow Hujon said, “We express our deep condolence on the tragic death of Nandwal and condemned the culprit(s) responsible for his death.”  She also requested all peace loving citizens and the business community in particular to observe the twelve hours bandh on Monday.- By Our Reporter
