Shillong, January 7: Meghalaya high court additional judge Justice SR Sen was elevated as the judge of the high court on Tuesday morning. He was sworn in as the judge by the Meghalaya high court chief justice PC Pant in a simple ceremony at the high court premises.

Family of Justice Sen besides senior lawyers and senior government officials were present during the oath taking ceremony on Tuesday.

Justice Sen had taken oath as the additional judge on March 23 last year.

Born on 9th March, 1957 in Shillong, justice Sen did schooling and college in Shillong and later  obtained his LL.B. degree from the Shillong Law College under NEHU.

Justice Sen started his career as a school teacher after completing his BA. But on completing his LLB from the Shillong Law college he joined the bar in 1989 and started his legal practice.

Justice Sen fought cases both civil and criminal matters and he  was the assistant  public prosecutor and additional  government  pleader of Meghalaya from 1997 till  July 7, 2000.

Justice Sen passed the Meghalaya higher judicial service examination in 2000 and joined as additional district  & sessions Judge in 2000 and became district & sessions judge in January 2002 with special power to try cases under NDPS, PC Act, WAQF Tribunal, Land Acquisition.- By Our Reporter
