Killings condemned

SHILLONG, FEB 3: The Federation of Khasi-Jaintia & Garo People (FKJGP)  and the senior adviser to Indigenous  Biodiversity  &  Social  Welfare  Organisation  (IBSWO)  and  consultant North  East  Dialogue  Forum  (NEDF)   Rev PBM. Basaiawmoit have condemned the cold blooded killing of the Williamnagar jail assistant jailor Neil Warjri and the jail warden     Sarai Singh Thabah by the ANVC(B) on Saturday night.

Basaiwmoit has denounced what he termed as “selective killings” and said that the killings must be a motivated so as to spread fear pyschosis among the security personnel and general public. Calling the killings as shocking, he has demanded that the government must adequately compensate the families of the deceased and also called upon the people to be vigilant and stopped such senseless violence.

FKJGP general secretary Wellbirth Rani said in a press statement, “We cannot accept such kind of an incident especially when Warjri and Thabah were killed in a cold-blooded manner without any reason.”

The FKJGP also appealed to militant organisations to shun from indulging in such act of violence which, it warned, could only incite communal passions apart from making the lives of innocent people insecure.

The FKJGP also extended its condolences to the families of the victims.- By Our Reporter
