Lajong juniors beat Umlyngka 4-2 to reach the final

SHILLONG, FEB 13: Shillong Lajong FC colts entered the final of the Under-14 tournament after beating Marbisu Sports Club in 4-2 in a penalty shootout at Polo ground on Wednesday. The Lajong juniors will not clash with Umlyngka in the final.

The match on Wednesday was thrilling as players of both the sides showed great potential of taking Meghalaya football to new heights. The juniors played some quality football and were on an even keel right from the word start taking the match to an extra time after being locked goalless during the regulation time.

The crowd was glued to their seats as they were treated with some fine football display by players from both the sides.

The keepers from both the teams made some brilliant saves not allowing their opponent to score and take the lead.

Both the teams had their chances but were unfortunate not to convert those chances into a goal forcing the match to go into extra time.

During the shootout the young Shillong Lajong custodian Lalmalsoma Tariang produce some brilliant save to see his side through to the finals. For Lajong Batskhem, Samkhain, Afridi and Kenstar scored after a miss by a Marbisu player.

The Junior Reds will not clash with Umlyngka for the title.- By Our Reporter
