Learning Khasi is important: Guv

IMG_2408SHILLONG, JUN 3:Governor of Assam and Meghalaya Banwarilal Purohit said learning Khasi is important for this region and Hindi is something that unites the nation.

Addressing at the Convocation Programme of Computer and Language Units of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Quinton Road held yesterday, he also asked the students to be aware of the technological advances but not to forget values from the selfless services of Ramakrishna Mission.

Earlier in the morning, Sri Ram Muivah, Secretary, NEC, Shillong,  inaugurated the first Virtual Reality Lab. in North East India.

It is likely to be the beginning of simulated computer learning in the region.

In his address, Muivah expressed happiness about the resources from NEC being utilized for the competence and skill development for youth of the region with the services provided by Ramakrishna Mission through the place sanctified by Swami Vivekananda himself.

During both the functions the centre distributed certificates to about 1800 of its trainees, who had received a two-month long training in various subjects of computer, English and communication skills, Hindi language, personality skills, etc.

Nazneed Nahid and Reebokstar Deingdoh  topped the list of 6 needy and meritorious students to receive a computer as gift. The winners have made exceptional results through at least 5 courses. Another 11 students received scholarships for merit.

The students who topped the academics were Computer-Beginner –Banteilang Mukhim, Computer-Intermediate – Ayush Limbu, Computer Accounting – Lariwanpli Khongjoh, DTP – Larilin Diengdoh, English Language and Communication skills – Ibapdianghun Khongwir.

In his Presidential Address, Revered Swami Purnanandaji Maharaj, Senior Monk, Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, Howrah, West Bengal said that human mind should express Godhood through education.

Earlier in his inaugural address, Swami Achyuteshananda, Secretary Ramakrishna Misson, Shillong inspired the students and said in this city which is the second largest hill station of Asia the institute has trained 37000 youth and 3000 are required by government jobs. He mentioned the new chapter being added to this is the first Virtual Reality Lab being opened by the institute.

Swami Madhurananda, Computer and Language Dept. incharge, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Shillong delivered his concluding speech and words of gratitude to all present and mentioned that the students are very fortunate to have heard the governor in such an interesting way.
