Liquor to cost more

liquorSHILLONG, JAN 6: The state government has decided to generate additional revenue of Rs 21.84 crore by revising the excise slab on IMFL, following the impact of the NGT ban on coal mining in Meghalaya.

“We expect revenue realization from Excise with this revised slab to jump by an additional Rs 21.84 crore per annum,” chief minister Mukul Sangma told reporters after the cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

According to him the government effort to increase the revenue realization has made the government to revise the excise slab as well.

For general brand which cost Rs 551, now it has been raised to Rs 663 per case, Sangma  said while informing that for deluxe brand  which is Rs 556 it has been raised to Rs 675 per case, for premium brand it has been increase from Rs 900 to Rs 1138 and for super premium, from Rs 1282 to Rs 1539 per case.

“This will help us to generate additional revenue of around Rs 21.84 crore with the current excise realization of the current year, due to the post NGT impact on coal,” Sangma said.He said that the impact of NGT has been felt on various economic activities including realization of tax besides royalty on coal like excise and others.- By Our Reporter
