SHILLONG, APR 15: Panic gripped Mawlai and Pynthorumkhrah on Wednesday afternoon when a mad Alsatian dog attacked and bitten fourteen people including a minor between 2 pm to 4 pm. To ensure public safety the municipal was directed to hunt down the mad dog.
All the fourteen unfortunate people who were bitten by the mad Alsatian dog were rushed to the hospital for immediate treatment. Meghalaya health minister AL Hek rushed to the hospital to meet the victims.
Sources informed that the people who were bitten by the mad dog are from Mawlai Mawroh, Pynthorbah, Langkyrding, Golflink areas.
Twelve years old Shaima Marak and Rishan Marboh were among the fourteen who were attacked and bitten by the dog.
The other victims have been identified as Wankitbok N ongkhlaw, Damankhraw Kupar Kharlyngdoh Mebanshan Syiem, Odhir Dey, Naphi Lyngdoh, Sony Sing and Ibarisha Nongkhlaw from Mawlai Mawroh.
Till about 8 pm the dog was still at large and the municipal authorities are yet to confirm whether the dog is diseased or not.
Hek has also declared that free vaccination and medical treatment will be given to all the fourteen people bitten by the dog. He has issued direction to the municipal to start the hunting the dog from tonight and ensure public safety is not at stake.- By Our Reporter
