Meghalaya HC grants 2 weeks’ time to State to file report on NH-6

The Meghalaya High Court on Monday granted two weeks’ time to the State to file an independent report on the status of the relevant stretch of NH-6.

During the hearing on the PIL, K Khan AAG assisted by ER Chyne, GA for the State respondents submits that he has just received the instructions, and prays that he may be allowed 2(two) weeks’ time to file the said report.

“Prayer is allowed,” the bench comprising Acting Chief Justice HS Thangkhiew and Justice B Bhattacharjee said in its order.

It said by order dated October 5, the Court had directed the Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District to file an independent report, as to the status of the relevant stretch of NH -6.

The order had also issued directions for the State to repair and renovate the Jowai Bypass within the next 4 weeks.

“The report to be filed by the State shall also contain the progress as to the repair and renovation of the Jowai Bypass,” the bench directed.

S Sengupta, counsel for the NHAI , today has produced the status report dated November 2.
