Meghalaya police pays homage to slain policemen

Shillong, Oct 21:  Meghalaya police along with the rest of the country paid homage to 566 police personnel of which eight are from the state who died in the line of duty from September 2010 to August 2011.

The homage was paid during the commemoration day Sunday. Meghalaya DGP N Ramachandran urged the police gathering to continue to perform with valour and courage. He also informed that the state government has raised the compensation and other facilities to the family members of the personnel who lost their life while performing their duties.

A twenty-one gun salute was also given in memories of slain solders.- By Our Reporter
