Meghalaya records zero COVID-19 deaths

SHILLONG, OCT 20: The state on Wednesday reported no new COVID-19 death in 24 hours and the total number of deaths stood at 1,439 in the state.

 

Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said the state has detected 79 new COVID-19 cases. These include 45 in East Khasi Hills, 23 West Khasi Hills, 6 West Jaintia Hills, 2 Ri Bhoi and 1 each in East Garo Hills, South West Garo Hills and South West Khasi Hills.

 

Dr War also informed that 58 persons have recovered from the viral infection.

 

Of these, 35 are from East Khasi Hills, 11 West Jaintia Hills, 8 West Khasi Hills, 2 East Jaintia Hills, 1 Ri Bhoi and 1 South West Khasi Hills.

 

So far, the state has detected a total of 83,158 COVID-19 cases out of which 761 are active cases, 80,958 recovered and 1,439 deaths.

 

With 484 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Khasi Hills with 159 cases and West Jaintia Hills 46.

 

There are 37 in Ri Bhoi, 17 West Garo Hills, 4 East Jaintia Hills, 4 South West Khasi Hills, 3 East Garo Hills, 3 South West Garo Hills, 2 North Garo Hills and 2 South Garo Hills.
