Militants lynched to death

SHILLONG, AUG 9: Two ANVC (B) militants were lynched to death by the villagers of Dorengtip, in Kacharipara that falls in the Assam Meghalaya border early Friday morning. The two have been identified as Nabang Marak and Watsi

It is learnt that seven ANVC (B) militants had gone to the village at around 8.30 am to demand money from the villagers. Armed with guns they caught hold of caught one person near a cowshed and threaten him.

Some villagers were passing by and saw the militants threatening the person and soon the number of villagers swelled and they surrounded the militants. Seeing the crowd the militants got scared and resorted to blank firing.

In the melee that ensure after the blank fire, five of the militants managed to escape while the two were caught by the villagers and beaten to death.

Another two militants identified as Rupert Marak and Smart Marak was caught near the Agia police station and the Assam police took them as it falls under Assam.

The police recovered 1 imported pistol, 2 live rounds and mobile phones from the possession of the arrested militants.- By Our Reporter
