Missile hurled at HSL

HS LyngdohSHILLONG, FEB 18:  Miscreants hurled stone missiles at the PWD inspection bungalow in Nongstoin, the headquarters of West Khasi hills district, where former deputy chief minister and Hills State People Democratic Party (HSPDP) president Hopingstone Lyngdoh was staying.

According to the West Khasi hills SP S Nongthyger the incident occurred at around 7 am on Monday. A stone was hurled at the PWD IB where Hopingstone Lyngdoh was staying and the window panes were broken,

However, Nongthyger informed that he was not sure whether the stone came from a catapult shot or it was hurled by hand breaking the window panes. There was panic as those who heard the window panes breaking mistook it for gunshots.

Lyngdoh, however, was not hurt as the stone landed wide off him.

As elections is just few days away, the stone missiles have created quite a concern as the police came rushing to the PWD IB. Nongtynger said that investigation has been initiated to find out who had hurled the stone missiles at the IB where the HSPDP supremo was staying.

Nongtynger dismissed the rumours that it was gunshot and said, “ It is just stone missiles but nonetheless we are taking it seriously and have began investigation as to who and from where the stone was hurled.”

Lyngdoh is the HSPDP candidate from Nongstoin constituency which he is representing ever since Meghalaya became a full-fledged state in 1972. His closest opponent is his own prodigy Adviser Pariong who was elected on HSPDP ticket in 2008 election but will be contesting against him as Congress candidate now.-By Our Reporter
