Mondal inaugurates Meghalaya pavilion at 32nd IITF

Shillong, Nov 14: Meghalaya Information & Public Relations minister AT Mondal Wednesday inaugurated the state’s pavilion in Pragati Maidan  in Delhi. Mondal visited the stall and declared it open soon after President Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated the 32nd edition of India International Trade Fair, an annual trade event with participation from all the states and union territories.

Mondal said, “I am happy to see the variety of businesses at display at our pavilion. I am sure this shall help us showcase the industries that we nurture in the state.”

Meghalaya pavilion has been designed on the theme Year of the Youth and has a variety of goods at display including handicrafts, spices, agro-based products, organic produce which many visitors shall find very unique and useful.

This year’s trade fair has 6,000 exhibitors from India and 21 other countries. The inauguration was attended by union minister of  commerce & industry and textiles  Anand Sharma; Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail V. Myasnikovich as the guest of honour; Deputy trade & industry minister of South Africa Elizabeth Thabethe; Vijay Bahuguna, Minister of  Uttarakhand and Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit.

This year, the theme of the fair is ‘Skilling India’ projecting the performance of the central and state ministries, departments and private sectors in the related fields. The theme display will be at Hall No. 1- foyer, highlighting different   aspects  for  continuous  upgrading of skills and  globally recognized qualifications for youth to achieve employment  and  ensure India’s  competitiveness in  the  international  market.- By Our Reporter
