“Road one each in Shillong and Tura (from Araimile junction to AMPT road via TV Tower) be named after him (Purno) at the earliest,” he said.

“Space may be allotted one each in Shillong and Tura (space in front of MP Stadium which was constructed by him) to put monument/statue in his memory.”

On March 17, the president of India had bestowed the Padma Vibhushan Award to Purno for his work and contribution to the nation.

The Award is the second highest civilian award in the country.

“After the entire nation having recognize his service to the country and having given him this prestigious award it would be in the fitness of things that the state of Meghalaya also give due recognition and status to this great son of the soil,” Conrad said.

The youngest son of Purno also said that it is indeed a matter of great honour and pride not only for the family members, mahari and people of his constituency but also for the state and North East region.

According to him,  it is more special for our state as he is the first person from the state to have received this distinguished award.
