NEEPCO senior manager in police net for heroin possession

SHILLONG, DEC 13:  North East Electricity Power Corporation (NEEPCO) Limited senior manager David Lalthlamuana was arrested by the police for possession of 1.17 grams of heroin Thursday.

The forty years old was arrested at around 11 am after the special cell of the police department laid a trap in Madanrting, known to be the drug hub in Shillong.

East Khasi hill additional superintendent of police Vivek Syiem informed reporters that the senior manager of the reputed power corporation located in fourth forlong near Polo had gone to Madanrting to purchase the heroin when the police accosted and later arrested him. When the police made the arrest Lalthlamuana had already bought the drugs.

Syiem, however, informed that the police missed arresting the drug peddler from whom Lalthlamuana had bought the heroin as he immediately took to the heels after sensing the presence of the police.

Lalthlamuana was later taken to the Madanrting Police Station and police are interrogating him and is hopeful of arresting the drug peddler from whom he had bought the heroin.- By Our Reporter
