NESO demands BJP apology

SHILLONG, FEB 3:  The North East Students’ Organisation (NESO) expressed its dismay and strongly condemned the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for terming the people from north east as ‘Immigrants’ in the party’s vision document for the Delhi election. NESO has demanded that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) tender an apology for insulting and hurting the sentiments of the North Eastern people

NESO chairman Samuel Jyrwa and secretary general Sinam Prakash Singh said in a statement issued on Tuesday, “This act of terming the north east people as ‘Immigrants’ or in other words ‘foreigners’ portrays the attitude and mindset that they have towards the people from north east.

The two NESO leaders said this mindset is amplified more in the continued step motherly treatment that is being meted out to the north eastern region and the continued implementation of draconian laws like AFSPA including the unrestrained militarization of the entire region.- By Our Reporter
