Shillong, November 24: The fourteen pro- ILP ngos have decided to call a public meeting on Novermber 30 and will not call for any agitation till then. The public meeting is being call to make the people understand their demand for introduction of the ILP in the state to stop illegal migration into the state and protect the indigenous tribal from being reduced to minority.

KSU general secretary Auguster Jyrwa said in a press statement issued on Sunday that the ngos will not call for any agitation now but instead call for a public meeting to make the people aware of the need of introduction of the ILP in the state. He said the public meeting will be held at 11 am but the venue will be announced later.

Jyrwa said the ngos will explain to the public that the ILP is the only mechanism that is effective in stopping illegal migration and influx into the state.

Jyrwa also asserted that the stand of the ngos on the need to implement ILP in the state has bot changed and it remains firm on its demand. The ngos have requested the indigenous tribal from within and outside Shillong to come to the public meeting in large number.

The ngos also felt that what the students community did during the course of consultation on the Meghalaya Regulation of Landlords and Verification of Tenants Bill 2013 at U Soso Tham auditorium was right as the bills is toothless.- By Our Reporter
